Overview
The world of I Reincarnated as a Goblin is divided into eight major continents, each with its own races, history, cultures, supernatural conditions, and conflicts.
These continents are not freely connected. Powerful Divine Barriers separate them from one another, making ordinary travel between continents impossible.
Because of this isolation, civilizations developed separately for long periods of time, producing dramatically different societies and racial distributions across the world.
The Eight Continents
Halvmen
The continent where César's story begins. Halvmen is dominated by Devilhuman populations and contains many of the races first encountered during his rise.
Muxuu
The homeland of Humans and Bararos. Muxuu also played a major role in the ancient history of Half-Elves, Semi-Giants, and several migrations between continents.
Lamtx
A continent strongly associated with Semihumans. Its naturally scarce Mana environment caused its civilizations to develop under very different conditions from those of other lands.
Furex
The continent associated with Beastkin. Its inhabitants display far deeper animal characteristics than the Semihuman populations of Lamtx.
Humel
The native homeland of the Astals. Semi-Giants later migrated to this continent following events tied to the ancient Barrier-Crossing Artifacts.
Sacred Continent
An ancient land associated with powerful Demihuman races such as Elves, Giants, Dwarves, Vampires, and Dryads.
Demonic Continent
The principal refuge and homeland of Demon populations. It is deeply connected to the aftermath of the ancient Devil crisis.
Disc
A distant continent associated with Half-Elves and other unusual intelligent populations. Its history is closely tied to ancient intercontinental migration.
Divine Barriers
The continents are separated by supernatural barriers established by divine forces.
These barriers prevent ordinary beings from simply traveling from one continent to another.
As a result, many civilizations spent centuries or longer with little or no direct contact with the populations beyond their own continent.
This isolation explains why different continents developed distinct racial majorities, cultures, technologies, combat traditions, and interpretations of ancient history.
Crossing the Barriers
Although the Divine Barriers normally prevent intercontinental travel, history records rare exceptions.
The most important known examples involve ancient Barrier-Crossing Artifacts.
These artifacts allowed certain populations to cross barriers that would otherwise have been impossible to pass.
Their existence became directly connected to several major migrations and conflicts throughout world history.
Known Historical Migrations
Several races did not remain permanently confined to the continents associated with their earliest known history.
- Elves and Giants reached Muxuu during an ancient expedition.
- Half-Elves later migrated from Muxuu to Disc.
- Semi-Giants later migrated from Muxuu to Humel.
- Dark Elves and Lycanthropes reached Halvmen during a later desperate migration.
These movements had major consequences for the racial and political history of multiple continents.
Continental Isolation
The Divine Barriers did more than restrict physical movement.
They also caused information to become fragmented. Knowledge of distant races, civilizations, and historical events often survived only as incomplete stories, myths, religious traditions, or distorted legends.
As a result, the same ancient event may be remembered very differently depending on the continent where the story is told.
