Furex

Furex is one of the eight known continents of the world and is primarily associated with Beastkin populations.

Vast savannas and dense jungles dominate much of its territory, giving the continent a wild and distinctive natural environment.

Furex possesses more natural Mana than Lamtx. This difference would eventually make the continent considerably more valuable to foreign conquerors.

Overview

Furex is the homeland most strongly associated with Beastkin.

Its inhabitants possess much more pronounced animal anatomy than the Semihumans of Lamtx, while remaining a completely separate racial classification.

In César's era, the future destruction that he knows from the original timeline has not yet reduced Furex to the condition in which it would later become known.

Geography

The two dominant environments of Furex are savannas and jungles.

Large open grasslands cover substantial portions of the continent, while other territories are occupied by dense tropical vegetation and extensive jungle environments.

Together, these biomes give Furex a landscape distinct from the predominantly green lands of Lamtx and the geographically divided territories of Muxuu.

Savannas

Vast savannas form one of the principal landscapes of Furex.

These regions consist largely of open terrain and extensive grasslands, forming a major part of the continent's natural environment.

Jungles

Dense jungles represent the other major environment associated with Furex.

These regions contain thick vegetation and provide a sharp environmental contrast with the open savannas found elsewhere across the continent.

Mana

Furex possesses a greater concentration of natural Mana than Lamtx.

This does not establish Furex as one of the world's most Mana-rich continents, but it does distinguish it from the extremely Mana-poor conditions of Lamtx.

The presence of greater supernatural resources would later become an important factor in the fate of the continent.

Beastkin

Beastkin are the principal native population associated with Furex.

They are a distinct racial classification characterized by a deep fusion of humanoid and animal anatomy.

Depending on lineage, Beastkin may possess traits such as fur, muzzles, horns, claws, hooves, digitigrade legs, tails, animal ears, and other substantial anatomical differences.

They should not be confused with the Semihumans of Lamtx, whose animal characteristics are considerably more limited.

Furex and Lamtx

Furex and Lamtx eventually suffered similar fates, but the extent of their destruction was not identical.

Lamtx was conquered and its Semihuman population was widely enslaved. However, some marginal territories remained outside complete control, allowing isolated groups of Semihuman survivors to continue living independently.

Furex was given no comparable refuge.

Conquest of Furex

In the original timeline, foreign forces eventually conquered practically the entirety of Furex.

Its greater Mana compared with Lamtx made the continent particularly valuable, encouraging a more complete occupation of its territory.

Beastkin civilization lost control of the continent, and no significant independent Beastkin territory remained.

The native population was either killed during the conquest or subjected to enslavement afterward.

Enslavement of the Beastkin

Surviving Beastkin were valued primarily for their physical capabilities.

Both males and females were assigned to physically demanding roles, including warfare and heavy labor.

Unlike the Semihuman population of Lamtx, Beastkin males and females were generally treated similarly by their Human captors in terms of the labor expected from them.

Their pronounced bestial characteristics also caused Humans to perceive them very differently from the more Human-looking Semihumans.

Population Decline

The conditions imposed upon the enslaved Beastkin population caused extremely high mortality.

Many individuals could not survive the constant physical demands placed upon them.

Over time, the Beastkin population declined to the point that the race approached extinction.

Survivors

By the period of the original story known to César, only a small portion of the former Beastkin population remained.

Those who continued to survive tended to possess particularly great physical strength and endurance, qualities that increased their chances of enduring the conditions imposed upon them.

This does not mean that the Beastkin formally evolved into a stronger race.

Rather, the surviving population increasingly consisted of individuals capable of enduring conditions that had killed many others.

Furex in the Original Timeline

By the original timeline, Furex had effectively ceased to exist as an independent Beastkin-controlled continent.

Its territory had been conquered, its native civilization had been destroyed or displaced, and its surviving population had been reduced to a fraction of its former numbers.

Beastkin themselves were approaching extinction.

César's knowledge of this future gives him an understanding of the fate awaiting Furex long before those events occur in his new timeline.

Lamtx and Furex Compared

Common Misconceptions

“Furex has as little Mana as Lamtx.”

Incorrect.

Furex possesses more natural Mana than Lamtx, although its exact standing compared with every other continent has not been established.

“Some independent Beastkin territories survived the conquest.”

Incorrect.

Unlike Lamtx, Furex was conquered so thoroughly that no significant independent Beastkin territory remained.

“Only male Beastkin were used for physically demanding roles.”

Incorrect.

Both male and female Beastkin were subjected to warfare and heavy labor by their captors.

“The surviving Beastkin became a new evolved race.”

Incorrect.

The survivors remained Beastkin. Individuals with greater physical resilience simply had a better chance of surviving the conditions that devastated the population.
