Muxuu is one of the eight known continents of the world and the native homeland of Humans and Bararos.
The continent is characterized by a dramatic contrast between fertile green territories and vast arid lands. This geographical division played a major role in the long and complicated history between its two principal native races.
Muxuu also holds great historical importance due to the ancient arrival of Elves and Giants, events that eventually led to the emergence of Half-Elves and Semi-Giants.
Geography
Muxuu is broadly divided between fertile green lands and extensive desert and arid territories.
Its fertile regions contain beautiful forests, abundant vegetation, productive soil, and large expanses of green land suitable for sustaining major populations.
In contrast, approximately half of the continent consists of deserts and other dry, arid environments.
This geographical contrast has strongly influenced the distribution, development, and history of Muxuu's inhabitants.
Fertile Lands
The green territories of Muxuu are highly desirable because of their fertile soil and favorable environment.
Forests and other vegetation are widespread throughout these regions, making them particularly valuable for large populations.
In the present territorial distribution, Humans control most of these fertile lands.
Deserts and Arid Lands
A large portion of Muxuu is composed of deserts and other arid territories.
These lands contrast sharply with the forests and fertile regions found elsewhere on the continent.
Bararos currently occupy and control much of these desert and arid territories.
This does not mean that Humans exist only in fertile lands or that Bararos exist exclusively in deserts. Rather, it represents the dominant territorial distribution between the two populations.
Humans and Bararos
Humans and Bararos are the two principal native races of Muxuu.
Both developed large populations, creating an inevitable problem: Muxuu's desirable fertile territories were not sufficient for both populations to occupy without competition.
The struggle for these lands became one of the principal causes of conflict between Humans and Bararos and was connected to some of the earliest major confrontations between them.
Conflict for Fertile Territory
Fertile territory became one of the most important strategic resources in Muxuu.
Humans and Bararos both required land capable of supporting their large populations, but much of the continent consisted of deserts and arid regions.
Competition over the greener portions of Muxuu therefore contributed to repeated conflicts between the two races.
Over time, Humans gained control over most of the continent's fertile territories, while Bararos came to occupy primarily the deserts and arid lands.
Present Territorial Distribution
| Population | Principal Territories |
|---|---|
| Humans | Most fertile green lands and forested territories |
| Bararos | Primarily deserts and arid territories |
This division represents the general balance of territorial control and should not be interpreted as an absolute racial border.
Human-Bararo Relations
The relationship between Humans and Bararos cannot be described simply as permanent hostility.
Throughout their history they have been enemies, rivals, neighbors, and at times allies.
Nevertheless, competition for fertile territory created a persistent source of tension between their populations and became an important part of Muxuu's history.
Ancient Foreign Arrival
Muxuu's history changed dramatically when Elves and Giants reached the continent during an ancient intercontinental expedition.
These races were not native to Muxuu and arrived through the use of one of the ancient Barrier-Crossing Artifacts.
Their arrival eventually brought Humans into contact with races that had previously existed beyond the Divine Barriers separating the continents.
Elves and Giants
The arrival of Elves and Giants became one of the most important ancient events in Muxuu's history.
Contact between the newcomers and the native inhabitants was not peaceful.
The events that followed eventually resulted in the appearance of two new mixed populations within Muxuu: Half-Elves and Semi-Giants.
Half-Elves
Half-Elves originated in Muxuu through unions between Humans and Elves.
They became a distinct population, combining Human and Elven ancestry while remaining different from both parent races.
A major Half-Elf population eventually left Muxuu and crossed a Divine Barrier, migrating to Disc.
Not every Half-Elf departed, however.
Those who remained in Muxuu continued reproducing with Humans over successive generations. Through Human Lineage Assimilation, their descendants eventually became classified as Humans again while retaining traces of Elven lineage.
Semi-Giants
Semi-Giants also originated in Muxuu, descending from Humans and Giants.
Like the Half-Elves, they became a distinct mixed population during the ancient period following the arrival of the foreign expedition.
A major Semi-Giant population eventually left Muxuu and migrated to Humel.
Some remained behind.
Their descendants continued mixing with Humans over generations, eventually contributing Giant lineage to portions of Muxuu's Human population.
Human Lineage Assimilation
The history of Muxuu provides important examples of the unusual compatibility possessed by Humans.
Mixed descendants can initially exist as recognizable populations such as Half-Elves or Semi-Giants.
However, when their descendants continue reproducing with Humans across multiple generations, they can eventually become classified as Humans again while preserving inherited traits from their non-Human ancestors.
As a result, some Humans of Muxuu possess distant Elven or Giant lineage despite being fully recognized as Humans.
Ancient History and Folklore
Centuries of separation and the passage of time caused much of the ancient history surrounding foreign races to become fragmented.
Knowledge about distant peoples and events gradually survived through stories, legends, and oral traditions.
Consequently, some information about races beyond Muxuu became distorted as generations passed.
Ancient encounters that were once real historical events could eventually be remembered as little more than folklore.
Barrier-Crossing Artifacts
Muxuu played a central role in the history of the ancient Barrier-Crossing Artifacts.
One of these artifacts originally allowed the Elf and Giant expedition to reach the continent.
Later events surrounding the Half-Elves and Semi-Giants caused Muxuu to become connected to further intercontinental migrations.
Half-Elves eventually reached Disc, while Semi-Giants reached Humel.
Historical Importance
Muxuu is therefore important for far more than the conflict between its two native populations.
It became a meeting point between populations that had developed on opposite sides of the Divine Barriers.
The consequences of those encounters affected not only Muxuu, but also the racial history of Disc, Humel, and later generations of Humans.
Common Misconceptions
“Muxuu belongs only to Humans.”
Incorrect.
Humans and Bararos are both principal native populations of the continent.
“Bararos naturally come from the desert.”
Misleading.
Bararos currently occupy primarily desert and arid territories because of Muxuu's historical territorial distribution. Their presence there should not be interpreted as proof that they are inherently restricted to desert environments.
“Humans and Bararos have always been enemies.”
Incorrect.
Their relationship has changed throughout history. They have experienced conflict and rivalry, but they have also existed as neighbors and allies under different circumstances.
“Half-Elves and Semi-Giants came to Muxuu from other continents.”
Incorrect.
Both populations originated within Muxuu following the ancient arrival of Elves and Giants.
“Every Half-Elf and Semi-Giant left Muxuu.”
Incorrect.
Major populations migrated to other continents, but some remained. Their descendants eventually contributed Elven and Giant lineages to Muxuu's Human population.
