Elves are an ancient Demihuman race associated primarily with the Sacred Continent.
They are known for their strong affinity with Mana, natural connection to plants, and heightened sensitivity toward animals.
Elves also possess a long and complicated history involving Humans, Giants, Half-Elves, Dark Elves, and several major migrations between continents.
Overview
Elves are one of the ancient races traditionally associated with the Sacred Continent.
Their society developed in an environment with exceptionally high concentrations of pure Mana, contributing to their strong natural affinity with magical energy.
In addition to their Mana aptitude, Elves possess an unusual relationship with plants and animals, making them particularly well suited to environments rich in natural life.
Classification
Elves belong to the broad racial group known as Demihumans.
This classification also includes several other ancient races such as Dwarves, Giants, Vampires, Dryads, and others.
Demihumans are distinct from Devilhumans, Semihumans, Beastkin, Humans, and other racial groups.
Appearance
Elves possess predominantly humanoid bodies.
Their most immediately recognizable physical characteristic is their long, pointed ears.
Hair color, eye color, skin tone, height, and other individual characteristics can vary between members of the race.
The appearance shown in the official racial illustration should therefore be understood as one example rather than a universal standard for all Elves.
Natural Affinities
Elves possess several natural tendencies that distinguish them from many other intelligent races.
Plant Affinity
Elves possess a naturally high affinity with plants.
This can manifest as greater sensitivity toward plant life and an easier time interacting with or understanding natural vegetation.
Their affinity is significant, but it should not be confused with the deeper natural specialization associated with races such as Dryads.
Animal Sensitivity
Elves generally possess a greater ability to sense, understand, or communicate with animals than ordinary Humans.
The exact manifestation and strength of this trait can vary between individuals.
Mana Affinity
Elves possess naturally strong aptitude for Mana.
Their natural sensitivity to Mana makes it easier for many Elves to perceive and develop supernatural abilities once they possess the necessary knowledge and training.
Homeland
Elves are historically associated with the Sacred Continent.
The continent contains some of the highest concentrations of pure Mana in the known world and became home to numerous ancient Demihuman races.
Conflict with the Dark Elves
Elves and Dark Elves possess a long history of hostility.
This conflict eventually became part of a much larger crisis that involved several races and contributed to the desperate migration of the Dark Elves and Lycanthropes toward Halvmen.
The evacuation occurred only after severe losses, with those unable to continue fighting being prioritized for escape while others remained behind.
The Barrier-Crossing Artifacts
During an earlier age, a powerful Dryad created three extraordinary artifacts capable of crossing the divine barriers separating the continents.
Elves and Giants eventually came into possession of two of these artifacts after a costly conflict surrounding their creation.
One of these artifacts was later used for a joint expedition beyond the Sacred Continent.
Expedition to Muxuu
Elves and Giants jointly traveled to Muxuu using one of the barrier-crossing artifacts.
Their contact with the Human populations of the continent became violent and eventually produced consequences that neither side had originally anticipated.
Humans were particularly interested in the Elves for their beauty and in Giants for their physical strength.
The descendants produced through Human-Elf unions became known as Half-Elves.
Half-Elves
Half-Elves originated from unions between Humans and Elves during the period following the expedition to Muxuu.
They were not fully accepted by either side and eventually became part of a separate population alongside the Semi-Giants, who had similarly originated from Humans and Giants.
The Half-Elves and Semi-Giants later cooperated and eventually took possession of the remaining barrier-crossing artifacts.
A major Half-Elf population eventually left Muxuu and migrated to Disc.
Half-Elves Who Remained in Muxuu
Not every Half-Elf left Muxuu during the migration.
Some remained among Human populations and continued interbreeding with Humans over many generations.
As this process continued, their descendants became increasingly Human until these populations were eventually assimilated into Humanity.
Although they were no longer considered Half-Elves as a distinct racial population, traces of their Elven ancestry survived within certain Human bloodlines.
Elven Lineage
Elven Lineage refers to traces of Elven ancestry preserved within certain Human bloodlines after generations of assimilation.
Individuals possessing Elven Lineage are still considered Human, not Half-Elves.
However, when enough of this inherited ancestry remains active, a Human may display abilities or affinities normally associated with Elves.
Inherited Plant Affinity
Humans with a sufficiently strong Elven Lineage may possess an unusually high affinity with plants.
This affinity is generally weaker than the specialized connection possessed by races such as Dryads, but it can still greatly exceed that of an ordinary Human.
Inherited Animal Sensitivity
Elven Lineage can also manifest as greater sensitivity toward animals.
Some Humans carrying this ancestry may find it easier to sense, understand, calm, or communicate with animals.
Inherited Mana Aptitude
Another possible manifestation is increased natural aptitude toward Mana.
A Human with Elven Lineage may therefore possess greater Mana sensitivity or potential than an ordinary Human even after many generations of Human ancestry.

Long after the migration of the Dark Elves and Lycanthropes to Halvmen, a group of Elves was sent in their direction.
The expedition never returned.
The exact fate of this group remains unknown.
Mana
Elves naturally possess Mana like nearly all living beings.
Their species is particularly notable for its high natural affinity with Mana, making magical development one of their strongest inherited advantages.
Natural affinity alone, however, does not replace the need for knowledge, training, resources, and cultivation.

Known individual Elves will be added as they are introduced and their information becomes available.
