They are amphibious humanoids capable of living both in water and on land, although prolonged exposure to dry environments causes their skin to become irritated and dehydrated.
Overview
Murlocs are aquatic Devilhumans adapted to life in rivers and other wet environments.
They are capable of leaving the water and traveling over land, but their physiology remains strongly dependent on moisture.
One of the most important Murloc populations known during César's era inhabits the large river near the region where he currently lives.
Their control over much of this river makes them one of the major powers of the poorer side of the region.
Classification
Murlocs belong to the broader racial classification known as Devilhumans.
They are distinct from Demihumans, Semihumans, Beastkin, Humans, and other major racial groups.
Appearance
Murlocs possess humanoid bodies combined with pronounced aquatic characteristics.
Common physical traits include scales, fins, sharp teeth, claws, and skin adapted to constant exposure to water.
Their exact appearance can differ considerably between males and females.
Male Murlocs
Male Murlocs tend to possess heavier and more powerful physiques, with more pronounced aquatic and predatory features.
Their bodies may display dense scales, large jaws, sharp teeth, fin-like structures, and powerful limbs adapted for movement through both water and difficult river terrain.
Female Murlocs
Female Murlocs possess a more humanoid appearance while retaining clear aquatic characteristics.
These can include fin-like ears, scales, aquatic skin coloration, sharp teeth, and other traits associated with the race.
Sexual Dimorphism
Murlocs display pronounced sexual dimorphism.

River Habitat
Murlocs are strongly associated with rivers.
During César's era, a major Murloc population dominates much of the river near the poorer region of Halvmen where César currently lives.
Their ability to fight, travel, and survive effectively within the river gives them considerable control over movement through the area.
The River Barrier
The river inhabited by the Murlocs acts as a natural barrier between different regions of Halvmen.
The side currently inhabited by César is comparatively poor and underdeveloped.
Beyond the river begins a region associated with higher Mana concentrations and increasingly powerful races.
Because Murlocs control much of the river on the poorer side, migrations and large movements attempting to cross toward the richer territories can encounter considerable resistance.
The Murlocs therefore function not only as inhabitants of the river, but also as a natural territorial obstacle between the two regions.
Relationship with the Adaros
On the opposite side of the river, where the higher-Mana territories begin, the Murlocs face another powerful aquatic race: the Adaros.
The two races are enemies and competitors for influence over the river and surrounding territory.
Although both races are strongly associated with aquatic environments, they possess different physical adaptations and territorial advantages.
The Adaros are particularly dangerous in the water and are capable of remaining away from the river for longer periods than Murlocs.
Reproduction
Murlocs possess unusually broad biological compatibility with many aquatic species.
This allows Murloc populations to continue reproducing even when the number of female Murlocs is limited.
Unlike some primitive Goblin groups, Murloc communities do not normally abandon or neglect the partners and offspring involved in these unions.
This difference contributes to greater stability within their communities.

Naturally possessing Mana does not necessarily mean that every Murloc understands conscious Mana manipulation or cultivation.
Territorial Importance
The position of the Murloc territory gives the race considerable strategic importance.
Any group attempting to move from César's poorer region toward the richer territories beyond the river must take the Murloc presence into consideration.
Even if the river itself can be crossed, the territories beyond it introduce an additional danger in the form of the Adaros and other stronger races associated with the higher-Mana region.
