Goblin

Goblins are a Devilhuman race found primarily on the continent of Halvmen.

They are generally smaller and physically weaker than many other Devilhuman races, but they compensate through rapid population growth, adaptability, survival instincts, and their willingness to exploit almost any available resource.

Goblin society traditionally places enormous importance on physical strength. In many clans, the strong receive the greatest access to food, protection, weapons, and authority, while weaker individuals are frequently neglected.

This culture has had particularly severe consequences for female goblins.

Appearance

Goblins possess several recognizable racial characteristics.

• Green skin.
• Pointed ears.
• Distinctive goblin eyes.
• Prominent teeth and canines.
• Strong nails that may resemble short claws.
• A generally humanoid body structure.

Both males and females share these fundamental Goblin traits.

However, Goblins display greater sexual dimorphism than outsiders may initially assume.

Male Goblins

Male Goblins usually possess rougher and more visibly monstrous facial features.

One of the most recognizable characteristics among many males is a long or prominent nose.

The exact shape varies between individuals, and not every male possesses an equally exaggerated nose, but the trait is widespread enough to be commonly associated with male Goblins.

Their facial structure also tends to appear harsher and less human than that of females.

Female Goblins

Female Goblins share the same green skin, pointed ears, eyes, teeth, canines, and nails as males.

Their facial structure, however, is noticeably different.

Female Goblins do not develop the long nose commonly seen among male Goblins.

Their noses remain comparatively small and human-like.

Their faces also possess softer and more human features, causing female Goblins to generally appear considerably more human-looking than males.

Female Height

One of the more surprising differences between male and female Goblins is their potential adult height.

Male Goblins commonly remain relatively short, usually around 1.4 to 1.7 meters, although individual variation exists.

Female Goblins possess the potential to grow noticeably taller.

Their final height varies greatly, but a properly developed female can approach the height of an average Human and may stand significantly taller than many male Goblins.

For a long time, this difference was poorly recognized within traditional Goblin clans.

Why the Difference Was Rarely Noticed

The natural height and physical development of female Goblins were difficult to observe because very few females received sufficient food and care while growing.

Many female Goblins seen in traditional tribes were chronically undernourished.

As a result, their poor physical condition was often mistaken for a natural racial limitation.

Only when females were raised with reliable access to food and protection did their greater potential adult height become obvious.

Physical Development

During childhood, female Goblins are generally physically weaker than males.

This difference becomes particularly important because traditional Goblin society places enormous emphasis on strength from a very young age.

Male Goblins capable of competing successfully for food and resources have a considerably greater chance of reaching adulthood in good physical condition.

Food is not necessarily distributed according to need.

Stronger Goblins frequently obtain more, while weaker members are forced to survive with whatever remains.

Reaching adulthood as a female Goblin is therefore unusually difficult.

The treatment of female Goblins is particularly unusual when compared with many other Devilhuman societies.

Female members of a species have enormous importance to the long-term survival of a population.

One might therefore expect Goblin clans to provide them with greater protection and access to food.

Traditional Goblin society often does the opposite.

Comparison with Other Devilhumans

Many Devilhuman societies place a high priority on protecting their females.

This does not necessarily mean that males and females possess identical social positions in every culture.

Some societies are dominated by males, while others may even be led by females.

However, providing females with food, protection, and care is generally recognized as beneficial to the survival of the community.

Goblins are one of the strongest exceptions to this tendency.

Strength Above Survival

Traditional Goblin culture focuses so heavily on immediate physical strength that long-term population survival is frequently ignored.

A weak individual may be considered a burden regardless of that individual's future importance to the tribe.

Female Goblins therefore receive little special treatment while young.

To many Goblins, they are simply weaker members of the clan.

Adulthood

The situation changes once a female Goblin reaches adulthood.

At this point, other members of the clan begin paying considerably more attention to her because of her reproductive importance.

Unfortunately, this attention generally does not translate into genuine status or long-term protection.

Treatment of Adult Females

Female Goblins native to a clan traditionally possess more physical freedom than females captured from other races.

They are generally not confined in the same manner.

However, this does not mean that they possess meaningful control over their social position.

The main distinction is often physical freedom rather than genuine social respect.

Pregnancy and Neglect

Once a female became pregnant, the attention she had briefly received often disappeared again.

This created another major threat to Goblin population growth.

Pregnancy naturally reduces mobility and increases nutritional needs, yet traditional Goblin clans rarely adjusted their behavior accordingly.

A pregnant female could therefore find herself competing for food within the same brutal hierarchy as before.

The Most Dangerous Period

For many female Goblins, pregnancy was one of the most difficult periods of their lives.

Even relatively large Goblin populations may possess only a very small number of surviving females.

Dependence on Other Races

The scarcity of female Goblins contributed to the historical tendency of many Goblin clans to seek females from other races.

This practice became one of the primary reasons Goblins developed such a hostile reputation among neighboring peoples.

It also reinforced a cycle of raids, retaliation, and conflict between Goblins and surrounding races.

Weaker Goblins frequently survive by attaching themselves to stronger individuals or groups.

Leadership is therefore often unstable.

A Goblin capable of defeating or replacing an existing leader may quickly gain control of the clan.

The Goblin King

Some Goblin settlements are ruled by an individual recognized as a Goblin King.

This position does not necessarily represent a hereditary monarchy.

Authority can instead arise from strength, fear, unusual abilities, control of resources, or the support of other Goblins.

Gab Gron formerly occupied such a position before César took control of his community.

Racial Abilities

Goblins possess several traits and abilities associated with their race.

Not every racial ability is necessarily present in every individual.

Night Vision

Goblins possess strong vision in dark environments.

This provides a major advantage within caves, forests, and underground settlements.

Lustful Smoke

Lustful Smoke is a rare Goblin Racial Ability.

The user produces a visible pink smoke capable of affecting females exposed to it.

The ability does not affect males.

Gab Gron is a known Goblin possessing this ability.

Its rarity was one of the factors that helped him establish authority over other Goblins.

César's Arrival

César's rise dramatically changes the traditional structure of the Goblins under his control.

Having retained the mentality and knowledge of his previous Human life, he recognizes that many Goblin customs are not merely cruel but also strategically self-destructive.

The traditional treatment of females is one of the clearest examples.

César's Reforms

Under César, females are no longer treated as disposable members of the population.

He establishes greater protection, regular access to food, and rules against forcing females.

These changes are both social reforms and practical population policy.

Protecting females improves the long-term survival and growth of the settlement.

Nutrition and Development

César's reforms also reveal previously overlooked biological characteristics of female Goblins.

When young females receive sufficient nutrition and are allowed to develop normally, they grow considerably better than those raised under traditional conditions.

Some eventually become significantly taller than adult males.

This demonstrates that many characteristics previously considered natural female weakness were partly consequences of chronic neglect and malnutrition.

A Changing Goblin Population

César's settlement therefore represents an unusual social experiment within Goblin history.

For perhaps the first time in generations, female Goblins can grow with stable access to food and protection.

The long-term biological and demographic consequences of this change remain largely unknown.

Despite retaining the memories of his former Human life, César is physically a Goblin.

His reincarnation does not represent a temporary transformation.

Goblin is his permanent race in his new life.

His actions gradually transform the way Goblins under his authority organize themselves, interact with other races, and understand their own society.

Misleading.

Females begin life at a physical disadvantage, but the severe weakness commonly observed in traditional clans is worsened dramatically by malnutrition and neglect.

“Goblin clans carefully protect their females because they are rare.”

Traditionally, this is usually false.

Goblin culture places immediate strength above long-term demographic logic, resulting in females receiving surprisingly little protection.

“All Devilhumans treat their females like Goblins do.”

Incorrect.

Goblins are unusual in this respect. Many other Devilhuman societies prioritize female nutrition and protection even when their social structures remain unequal.

Incorrect.

Although his values influence his decisions, protecting females also has clear practical benefits for the survival and growth of his people.
