Cosmology

Cosmology refers to the greater structure of reality in I Reincarnated as a Goblin, including worlds, universes, dimensions, divine beings, Deviants, Outer Gods, and other forces that exist far beyond the scale of individual continents and civilizations.

The setting is not limited to a single world.

Numerous worlds exist, multiple universes are confirmed, and certain beings possess the ability to influence, cross, conquer, create, or even destroy structures on a cosmological scale.

Overview

Reality is divided into multiple levels of scale.

A continent is only a region within a world.

A world exists within a universe.

Multiple universes exist independently from one another.

Other dimensions also exist and should not automatically be treated as ordinary universes.

Basic Cosmological Scale

Worlds and Universes

A world and a universe are not the same thing.

Multiple worlds may exist inside the same universe.

Traveling from one world to another within the same universe is therefore fundamentally different from crossing from one universe into another.

Advanced technology or supernatural means may theoretically allow world-to-world travel without requiring inter-universe movement.

The Principal Universe

The main story takes place inside what can be called the principal universe.

This universe possesses several unusual characteristics that distinguish it from many others.

Most importantly, it naturally produced extraordinary beings known as Deviants.

It also developed supernatural mechanisms such as Faith, which certain native divine beings learned to use.

A Special Universe

The principal universe is exceptional because powerful beings could emerge naturally within it without needing to conquer other universes in order to accumulate power.

Deviants are one of the greatest examples of this phenomenon.

At least one Deviant eventually surpassed the publicly known limit of Level 9 and secretly reached Level 10.

World Classifications

Worlds can be divided into at least two broad categories:

• Natural Worlds
• Artificial Worlds

Natural Worlds

Natural Worlds are worlds that emerged naturally rather than being deliberately created by Gods.

They were much more common in the ancient era.

Many powerful species, civilizations, and extraordinary beings developed naturally within them.

Numerous Natural Worlds were later destroyed during the Deviant War.

Artificial Worlds

Artificial Worlds are real worlds created, prepared, or heavily transformed through divine intervention.

Gods may take lifeless planets or worlds and alter their environments until they can support life.

Populations can then be transferred from other worlds and encouraged to establish civilizations.

Many Artificial Worlds function as long-term Faith-producing domains.

Environmental Strength of Artificial Worlds

Artificial Worlds are not necessarily equal to Natural Worlds in environmental quality.

Their Mana density and overall supernatural richness depend heavily on how much energy the creator is willing to invest.

A God may create a relatively modest world or spend vastly greater power to produce one with extremely rich Mana conditions.

Faith

Faith is one of the most important supernatural concepts in the greater cosmology.

Gods are capable of making use of Faith for power, recovery, restoration, and other purposes.

This ability was not originally something they fully possessed on their own.

Gods observed powerful Deviants and worked to imitate part of the mechanisms those beings naturally possessed.

Deviants and Faith

Higher-level Deviants possess extraordinary methods of returning even after apparent destruction.

They are not completely dependent on Faith for this process.

Without Faith, their return may simply take considerably longer.

Faith can accelerate or facilitate their recovery.

Gods and Faith

Gods became much more dependent on Faith than Deviants.

Because of this, civilizations capable of producing large quantities of Faith became extremely valuable.

Gods can collect Faith from both Natural and Artificial Worlds.

Humans and Faith

Humans are especially valuable to many Gods.

The Faith produced by Humans is unusually pure.

This is one of the primary reasons Humans have historically received greater divine attention and favor than many other mortal races.

Faith Competition

In ancient times, Gods could intervene more directly in inhabited worlds.

This often created competition between multiple Gods seeking the Faith of the same civilizations.

Rather than constantly fighting over already populated Natural Worlds, many Gods chose to establish their own Artificial Worlds.

Faith-Producing Worlds

Artificial Worlds offered Gods much greater religious control.

A population could be transferred to a newly prepared world, assisted in establishing itself, and raised across generations with the creator God as its primary divine authority.

In practical terms, such worlds can function as Faith Farms.

The Gods

Gods are powerful supernatural beings associated with divine authority, Faith, world creation, and ancient cosmological events.

Their exact nature is difficult to define using ordinary mortal categories.

They can be understood approximately as highly advanced spiritual beings, especially in their current state.

The Current State of the Gods

Gods are far more restricted in the current era than they were in the past.

During the ancient Devil crisis, they sacrificed their physical bodies and enormous amounts of Faith as part of the effort to resist the invasion.

They now exist in a more limited and largely bodiless state.

Much of their current effort is dedicated to containing the Devils.

The Devils

Devils originate from another dimension.

They are distinct from Gods, Outer Gods, Demons, Deviants, and other cosmic categories.

Devils are associated with Demonic Energy.

Demonic Energy

Pure Demonic Energy produced by Devils is highly hostile to Mana and living beings.

It can damage or destroy Mana and continue affecting a victim like a supernatural poison if left untreated.

Demons, who descend from Devils and mortal races, possess a more diluted form of Demonic Energy.

This diluted version is weaker than pure Devil energy and less directly destructive to Mana than Anti-Mana, but it can persist and cause severe weakening.

Devils Are Not Outer Gods

Devils and Outer Gods are entirely separate threats.

Devils are destructive beings from another dimension.

Outer Gods are ancient divine beings associated with the conquest and domination of multiple universes.

The Outer Gods

The Outer Gods are ancient Gods who operate across multiple universes.

They have conquered or dominated hundreds of universes.

Their expansion allows them to plunder other universes and increase their own power.

Their existence represents a cosmological threat far beyond an ordinary planetary or continental conflict.

Outer Gods and Faith

The Outer Gods discovered Faith and attempted to use it.

They failed.

For reasons that remain unknown, they cannot properly process or exploit Faith.

This inability is one of the important differences between the Outer Gods and the divine beings native to the principal universe.

The Outer Gods Crisis

The Outer Gods eventually attempted to expand their influence into the principal universe.

Their activities included the use of beings and forces carrying Monster Energy.

These creatures were later sealed within towers, dimensional prisons, and spaces connected to what became known as Dungeons.

The crisis ultimately escalated until the Outer Gods themselves became directly involved.

The Being Who Stopped Them

The Outer Gods were eventually stopped by an ancient being whose true existence remained hidden from nearly everyone.

That being was the first Level 10 Deviant.

He discovered the plans of the Outer Gods and prevented their expansion into the principal universe.

The confrontation was difficult even for him.

Deviants

Deviants are extraordinary beings that emerged naturally within the principal universe.

Their physical form does not define their species.

A Dragon-shaped Deviant is not automatically a true Dragon, and a Phoenix-shaped Deviant is not automatically a true Phoenix.

Known Deviant Levels

The publicly recognized hierarchy historically extended from Level 1 to Level 9.

Level 10 was considered legendary and publicly unconfirmed.

In reality, one Deviant had secretly already crossed that threshold.

The First Level 10 Deviant

The first Level 10 Deviant remained hidden.

His name, original form, appearance, and method of reaching Level 10 remain unknown.

Because he concealed his power, the rest of the world continued to regard Level 10 as a legend.

The Deviant War

The ancient Deviant War was connected to the pursuit of power beyond the known Level 9 limit.

The conflict reached a scale capable of devastating entire worlds.

Numerous Natural Worlds were destroyed.

Despite this, the existence of Level 10 remained publicly unconfirmed.

The Irony of Level 10

One of the greatest hidden truths of the Deviant War is that the legendary level the Deviants sought had already been reached.

The first Level 10 Deviant simply never revealed himself.

His exact involvement in the war remains unknown.

Monster Energy

Monster Energy is associated with the Outer Gods and the ancient creatures connected to their invasions.

It is distinct from:

• Mana
• Aura
• Aether
• Mental Power
• Anti-Mana
• Demonic Energy

Monster Energy can corrupt living beings.

Before the process becomes irreversible, Mana can sometimes resist or expel its influence.

Dungeons

Many Dungeons are connected to ancient prisons and sealed spaces created to contain creatures associated with Monster Energy.

Towers, dimensional spaces, and other structures became part of this larger containment system.

Some Dungeons later developed reward mechanisms, including Skill Books and other valuable resources.

God-Created Monsters

Gods also created their own monsters.

These beings are distinct from creatures influenced by Monster Energy.

God-Created Monsters were associated with divine purposes, including encouraging mortal populations to pray and generate Faith.

An Exceptional God-Created Monster

One God-Created Monster eventually developed an extraordinary degree of consciousness.

It became capable of awakening or granting consciousness to other beings.

This development was not merely the natural consequence of its original artificial creation.

A deeper cosmological force was involved.

Universe-Consuming Entities

Another category of cosmic entities exists beyond the known Gods, Outer Gods, and Devils.

Their official name has not yet been revealed.

These beings are capable of destroying and consuming entire universes.

To them, a universe can effectively become food.

Assimilation of Inhabitants

These universe-consuming entities do not necessarily destroy every inhabitant immediately.

They can transform inhabitants into mindless beings and assimilate them into enormous armies.

Their full capabilities, origin, hierarchy, and purpose remain unknown.

Connection to the Conscious God-Created Monster

The unusual consciousness developed by the exceptional God-Created Monster is connected to these universe-consuming entities.

Their influence is the deeper reason the creature was able to develop such exceptional awareness and awaken consciousness in others.

The exact mechanism of this intervention remains unknown.

Outer Gods vs Universe-Consuming Entities

These two categories should not be confused.

Outer Gods conquer and dominate universes.

The unnamed universe-consuming entities destroy and consume entire universes.

The Final Protective Barrier

At some point in ancient cosmological history, a final protective barrier existed against external threats.

This barrier should not be confused with the divine barriers separating the continents of César's world.

The exact nature, location, creator, and full scale of this protection remain unknown.

During the events surrounding the Level 10 Deviant and the Outer Gods, this protection was compromised or destroyed.

Continental Barriers

César's current world contains separate divine barriers between its continents.

Ancient inhabitants misunderstood these barriers and believed crossing them meant leaving one world and entering another.

In reality, those journeys were only movement between continents of the same world.

Barrier-Crossing Artifacts

A powerful Dryad once created three artifacts capable of crossing the continental barriers.

These artifacts enabled several ancient migrations between continents.

They do not represent true world-to-world or universe-to-universe travel.

Multiple Universes

The existence of multiple universes is confirmed.

Several major characters originate from different universes.

This includes César, Lucius, and Nilo.

Alex, by contrast, originated from the principal universe itself.

Alex

Alex is the Original Protagonist.

He was born on an advanced Earth inside the principal universe.

After his death, he awakened on another world within that same universe.

His transition was therefore world-to-world rather than inter-universe.

Alex's Future

Alex genuinely possessed a future in which he would become an extremely important and powerful individual.

This future was real.

Certain Gods observed fragments of it through divine foresight.

Novels Based on Real Futures

Information from Alex's future was transformed into stories or novels.

Individuals in other universes later read these stories believing they were fiction.

In reality, the stories were based on real future events.

Lucius

Lucius originated from another universe.

His universe had already fallen under the domination of the Outer Gods.

The portal and monster catastrophe experienced by his Earth was connected to Outer God influence.

After his death, Lucius awakened in the world he believed belonged to a novel.

Nilo

Nilo originated from a different universe from both Lucius and César.

His universe was also under Outer God domination.

The zombie-like catastrophe that devastated his Earth was connected to this influence.

After his death, Nilo awakened in the world he believed existed only as fiction.

César

César originated from a relatively small universe separate from the principal universe.

His reincarnation was not caused by the same Gods responsible for observing Alex's future.

Instead, his second life is connected to the hidden first Level 10 Deviant.

César's Reincarnation

The Level 10 Deviant discovered César's universe and eventually granted him an unusual second opportunity.

César was reincarnated as a Goblin inside the principal universe.

He was not the Deviant's true chosen one.

The True Chosen One

The Level 10 Deviant possesses another individual intended to become his genuine chosen one.

At the beginning of César's story, that person has not yet been born.

Their identity and purpose remain unknown.

César's Future Knowledge

César possesses knowledge concerning events that would occur in his new world.

The exact mechanism through which he obtained this information has not yet been fully revealed.

It should not automatically be assumed to be identical to the novel mechanism associated with Lucius and Nilo.

Future Knowledge Is Not Fate

A future observed by Gods is not necessarily immutable.

Once individuals with knowledge of future events interfere with history, the timeline can begin to diverge.

The more interference occurs, the less reliable the original future becomes.
