Aether Cultivation is one of the four major cultivation systems known in the world of I Reincarnated as a Goblin.
It is an advanced path born from the development and eventual fusion of Mana and Aura.
Aether Cultivation is also associated with the Path of the Monarch.
Its complete progression is divided into VIII Stages.
Overview
Aether Cultivation requires foundations in both Mana Cultivation and Aura Cultivation.
The path begins by developing both systems within the same individual.
However, Aether is not simply produced by switching between Mana and Aura or using them simultaneously.
The two forces are ultimately fused into a new supernatural energy: Aether.
The Eight Stages are:
- Dual Awakening
- Thirty-Two Channels
- Twin Cores
- Aether Core
- Aether Adaptation
- Elemental Dominion / Personal Law
- Aether Weapon or Domain
- Final Rupture / Monarch
Stage I — Dual Awakening
The First Stage is known as Dual Awakening.
The practitioner must possess and develop the foundations of both Mana and Aura.
This stage marks the beginning of the path toward Aether.
Mana and Aura still exist as separate forces during this early stage.
The goal is to establish both without allowing either foundation to collapse.
Stage II — Thirty-Two Channels
The Second Stage focuses on the complete internal circulation structure required to support both Mana and Aura.
The practitioner possesses a total of 32 channels.
These are formed from the foundations of the two original cultivation paths:
- 16 Mana Veins
- 16 Martial Channels
Maintaining both networks creates the internal framework required for the later fusion of the two systems.
Stage III — Twin Cores
The Third Stage is known as Twin Cores.
At this stage, the practitioner maintains two distinct central cultivation structures:
- A Mana-based core
- An Aura Core
Mana and Aura remain separate, but both systems are now sufficiently developed to exist together within the same practitioner.
The Twin Cores represent the final major stage before the true birth of Aether.
Stage IV — Aether Core
The Fourth Stage represents the decisive transformation of the entire cultivation path.
To advance, the practitioner destroys the two previous cores.
Destruction of the Twin Cores
Both the Mana-based core and Aura Core are deliberately broken down.
This is not a loss of cultivation.
Their destruction is necessary because Mana and Aura can no longer remain as two independent central systems.
Fusion into Aether
The two forces are fused together and transformed into Aether.
A new purple Aether Core is then formed.
From this stage onward, the practitioner has entered Aether Cultivation in its true form.
Stage V — Aether Adaptation
The Fifth Stage is known as Aether Adaptation.
After the creation of the Aether Core, the practitioner's body and internal cultivation structures must adapt to the new energy.
Aether is not identical to either Mana or Aura.
The practitioner must therefore adjust to circulating, containing, and expressing a force created from their fusion.
This stage stabilizes the transformation achieved during the previous stage.
Stage VI — Elemental Dominion / Personal Law
The Sixth Stage is associated with Elemental Dominion and the development of a Personal Law.
At this level, the practitioner's power becomes increasingly defined by their own path rather than by a purely standardized method of cultivation.
The concept of a Personal Law represents the practitioner's individual supernatural direction and authority.
This stage marks a transition from simply cultivating power toward establishing a personal principle through which that power is expressed.
Stage VII — Aether Weapon or Domain
The Seventh Stage allows the practitioner to develop one of two major manifestations:
- Aether Weapon
- Domain
These manifestations represent different expressions of the practitioner's Aether and Personal Law.
Aether Weapon
An Aether Weapon represents a highly developed weapon-based expression of the practitioner's power.
It should not automatically be treated as identical to the Natal Weapon of Aura Cultivation.
Domain
A Domain represents an area or field through which the practitioner expresses their developed supernatural authority.
Its exact characteristics depend on the individual path of the cultivator.
Exceptional Practitioners
Most practitioners develop either an Aether Weapon or a Domain.
Exceptional individuals may be capable of developing both.
Stage VIII — Final Rupture / Monarch
The Eighth Stage is known as the Final Rupture and represents the completion of the Path of the Monarch.
At this stage, the practitioner's entire cultivation structure undergoes another fundamental transformation.
Cellular Micro-Cores
The conventional centralized cultivation structure is transcended.
The practitioner's cells become capable of functioning like individual micro-cores.
The body itself becomes an enormous distributed Aether system.
Monarch State
A practitioner who reaches this level attains the state associated with the title of Monarch.
Their Aether is no longer expressed only through conventional techniques or localized internal structures.
Their entire existence becomes a medium through which Aether can be generated and expressed.
Organic Attack
At the Monarch stage, attacks can become increasingly organic extensions of the practitioner's own existence and Aether.
Power is no longer restricted to the same conventional separation between body, technique, and supernatural energy seen at lower stages.
Authority Over Reality
The Monarch stage grants an extraordinary degree of authority over surrounding reality.
This represents the culmination of Aether's fundamental nature as the fusion of Mana's ability to shape reality and Aura's ability to resist and dominate it.
Suppressive Presence
A Monarch may possess an overwhelming supernatural presence capable of suppressing weaker beings.
This is not simply physical intimidation.
It is a consequence of the practitioner's highly developed Aether and authority.

Mana, Aura, and Aether
Aether inherits its foundation from two fundamentally different power systems.
Mana shapes reality.
Aura resists, wounds, and dominates reality.
Aether emerges when these two principles are successfully fused into one supernatural path.
Not Simultaneous Use
One of the most important distinctions in Aether Cultivation is that Aether is not simply the simultaneous use of Mana and Aura.
During the early stages, both systems coexist independently.
At Stage IV, however, their central structures are destroyed and their energies are fused.
From that point onward, the cultivator follows the Aether path rather than maintaining two completely independent cultivation systems.
The Purple Aether Core
The formation of the purple Aether Core marks one of the most important transitions in the entire system.
Before this stage, the practitioner remains fundamentally a dual Mana and Aura cultivator.
After the fusion, Aether becomes the central energy of the practitioner's cultivation.
Personal Law
The Personal Law introduced during Stage VI reflects the increasingly individual nature of advanced Aether Cultivation.
At lower stages, practitioners may follow broadly similar foundations.
At higher stages, their power becomes increasingly shaped by their own path, understanding, and supernatural authority.
Aether Weapon and Domain
Stage VII represents a major divergence between advanced practitioners.
Some develop an Aether Weapon.
Others develop a Domain.
Exceptionally talented or unusual practitioners may achieve both.
Neither possibility should be treated as automatically superior in every situation.
Path of the Monarch
The term Path of the Monarch refers to the complete development of Aether Cultivation.
The final stage represents a practitioner whose body and supernatural authority have been transformed on a fundamental level.
The title does not merely refer to political rulership.
It describes the culmination of the Aether cultivation path.
Common Misconceptions
“Aether means using Mana and Aura at the same time.”
Incorrect.
Aether is formed through the actual fusion of Mana and Aura.
“The Twin Cores remain forever.”
Incorrect.
They are destroyed during Stage IV to create the Aether Core.
“Aether is a Mana element.”
Incorrect.
Aether is a separate energy formed through the fusion of Mana and Aura.
“Every Stage VII practitioner has both a Domain and an Aether Weapon.”
Incorrect.
The normal path produces one or the other. Possessing both is an exceptional achievement.
“Monarch is only a political title.”
Incorrect.
Within this system, Monarch refers to the final state of the Aether path.
